Together with our partners and the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the purpose of the Chair of the chair is to promote an integrated system of research, training, information, and documentation on science education. It will facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in Ukraine, as well as elsewhere in Europe and North America, in Africa and in other regions of the world.

The specific objectives of the chair are to:

• Provide theoretical substantiation of the ability to effectively implement science education approaches in specific sociocultural settings
• Improve the content of educational programmes in sector-specific subjects for training and advanced training in science education, including in non-formal education
• Support capacity enhancement of faculty students and the public at large through internship programmes, international projects, conferences, round tables, interactive online courses and scholarships
• Undertake research jointly with partners and disseminate results, including online
• Set up platforms for the creation and dissemination of interactive online courses in science education
• Foster the impact of the Chair's performance through the implementation of science education concepts in educational institutions at national and regional level
• Generate publications, create web-sites, video recordings and TV programmes, as well as organizing public events
• Develop a methodology for the implementation of IT in the Earth sciences cycle based on the experience of the Geo-Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) Laboratory at the National Center of the Junior Academy of the Sciences of Ukraine
• Cooperate closely with UNESCO and with other UNESCO Chairs on relevant programmes and activities
