Online seminar "Knowledge-driven actions: transforming higher education for global sustainability"

Today our Chair had the privilege to attend a monthly online UNESCO Chairs Seminar 2: "Knowledge-driven actions: Transforming higher education for global sustainability"
The meeting was focused on highlighting the importance of Interdisciplinary approaches essential for interpreting and understanding the complex interactions and trade-offs between environmental, social, and economic factors that affect sustainability.
In particular, it was stressed that achieving this balance requires a fruitful collaboration of experts from different disciplines, whereby environmental scientists can study the impact of economic activities, while economists provide insights on the costs and benefits of sustainable development policies. Accordingly, it is our role as educators to successfully inculcate the positive impact of sustainable development outlook and concrete ways of achieving it among our students.
We are grateful to our partners at the UNESCO Education Sector in Paris for affording us the possibility to deepen our grasp of these crucial issues and await our next seminar in March!
