Roundtable dedicated to the 75th anniversary since the establishment of the organization titled “Peacebuilding through Education, Science and Culture”
On December, 7 the UNESCO Chair on Science Education at the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University held a roundtable dedicated to the 75th anniversary since the establishment of the organization titled “Peacebuilding through Education, Science and Culture.” As part of the meeting, the attendees were greeted by the Rector of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University Victor Andrushchenko, President of the II category UNESCO Center at the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Stanislav Dovgyi and the deputy of the Ukrainian National Commission for UNESCO Tetyana Izhevska. The speakers reminded all present regarding a successful chronology of cooperation between Ukraine and UNESCO, stressed the importance of upholding peace through education, utilizing scientific and cultural resources in order to address present-day challenges, preserving cultural heritage, stimulating multi- and intercultural education, maintaining safety and raising the level of national and global prosperity. Moderating the event, the Chairman of the UNESCO Chair Denys Svyrydenko reported on the newly created UNESCO Chair stressing the importance of its mission as an active agent of change of the educational landscape in our country. The Chair is especially thankful to experienced diplomats Borys Humeniuk, Volodymyr Yevtukh, Valeriy Tsibukh, Hryhoriy Khomenko, and our special guest from Lithuania Tomasz Blaszczak for enriching the event with personal and international experience.
